Cason Wallace Joins Elite Playoff Company In Notable Defensive Stat

The Oklahoma City Thunder could be named NBA champions in just a few days, and it’s because they have one of the deepest rosters in the league.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gets the most attention, of course, but he’s not the only one doing amazing work for his team.

According to OKC Thunder Stats, Cason Wallace has been sensational during the playoffs.

At just 21 years and 215 days old, he has the third-most steals in NBA playoff history of anyone that age.

He has secured 32 steals so far, which is just behind Jayson Tatum with 33 and Magic Johnson with 49.

Behind Wallace are Tony Parker with 31 steals and Kobe Bryant with 21.

Wallace is putting an end to his second season in the league, and it’s been a great one.

He averaged 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists during 2024-25, and all of those numbers were a step up from his rookie season.

During the playoffs, he has been a dominant defensive monster, averaging 1.3 steals per game and consistently shutting down his opponents, no matter their experience or size.

All season, analysts said the Thunder had one of the best defenses of all time.

They use their youthful energy, speed, and aggression as a way to constantly hound their competition and limit even their most explosive players.

The fact that Wallace already has a place in playoff history after just his second season says a lot.

Many people have said the Thunder will only get better in the years ahead, even if they win a championship this year.

There are those who believe this is the beginning of a dynasty.

It is hard to argue with that when you look at what Wallace is doing and how many other Oklahoma players are just as talented.
