The Indianapolis Colts took a big swing when they selected Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Richardson came into his rookie season with a lot of hype, and he started to deliver on those expectations.
Unfortunately, Richardson suffered a concussion and a severe shoulder injury after starting just four games and missed the rest of his rookie season.
He bounced back in 2024, playing in 11 games, but injuries persisted and he didn’t appear to be 100 percent healthy when he was on the field.
Many believed he would be able to get back on track in 2025, but a recurring shoulder injury has called that into serious question.
“Colts QB Anthony Richardson went to Los Angeles to have his AC joint re-checked with the doctor that performed the surgery on it and there is no timetable for his return, per HC Shane Steichen,” Yahoo Sports wrote on X.

This is horrible news for the Colts, who have struggled to find stability at quarterback.
If Richardson can’t start the 2025 season, it’ll be up to Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard or Jason Bean to lead the offense.
Jones likely would be the starter in this situation, as he is the Colts’ most experienced backup, by far.
There’s no telling what a Jones-led team in Indianapolis would look like, especially for a prolonged time, so fans are hoping Richardson gets better quickly for the sake of their team’s playoff chances.
