The New Orleans Saints could add another weapon for Kellen Moore’s offense.
They already have running back Alvin Kamara as the starter, but a little more firepower couldn’t hurt.
That’s why, according to Nick Underhill of New Orleans.Football, the Saints will host Cam Akers for a tryout during their minicamp.
Cam Akers will be trying out for the Saints this week at minicamp, according to a league source. The running back spent last season with the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings.

The free agent may still have some upside and might be an upgrade over backups Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kendre Miller and Devin Neal.
Akers played for the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings last season, rushing for 444 yards and two touchdowns on 104 carries.
He also had 14 receptions for 68 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Akers entered the NFL with high hopes as a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He had some ups and downs with the Rams and was traded to the Vikings three years later.
Then, he signed with the Texans as a free agent before being traded back to the Vikings.
So far, he’s logged 502 carries for 2,025 yards and 13 touchdowns, adding 52 receptions for 388 yards and four scores.
Though he didn’t live up to the sky-high expectations, he’s proven to be a serviceable player when given a chance.
Kamara is entering his ninth season, so adding another running back who can be a factor in the passing game is a smart move by the Saints.
