Kenny Wallace cites NASCAR legend Dick Trickle’s racing wisdom amid discussion on competitive spirit

NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace was recently reminded of a few words of advice from the late Dick Trickle. Trickle was a multi-talented driver with experience in NASCAR as well as the ASA, ARTGO, ARCA, All Pro, IMCA, and USAC. He passed away on May 16, 2013 in Boger City, Lincolnton.

Kenny Wallace recently won a dirt race at Brownstown Bullring in the No. 36 car, marking his ninth career Summit Racing Equipment Modified victory. Reflecting on his victory, the nine-time Xfinity Series winner said,

“Competition is funny, especially dirt racers…if you don’t show up, they don’t care. Hell, they’d rather win if there was only 10 cars there.” (6:00)

On that note, a fan on X named Chris George commented,

“You don’t think those other dirt racers like beating you when you don’t win and you’re in the race? If you’re a top tier driver in your class don’t you feel better about your win when you beat another fierce competitor? Give yourself a little more credit.”

That’s when Wallace was reminded of Trickle’s golden words. Recalling them, Wallace replied with a note that read:

“Honestly? I was taught by the great Dick Trickle. He taught me this. “All cars are colors”.”

Honestly?

I was taught by the great Dick Trickle. He taught me this.

“All cars are colors”.

Kenny Wallace is a big name in the world of NASCAR. He last competed in the sport back in 2015 at Iowa Speedway, when he was with Joe Gibbs Racing. Today, he competes in local dirt tracks, hosts a show called Herm & Schrader and is a commentator for MRN.

Kenny Wallace sends a straightforward message to complaining NASCAR fans

Following this year’s AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, which Kyle Larson won, Kenny Wallace sent a strong message to all those fans who call the Next-Gen car incompetent. He thinks that the problem lies not in the car but in this fault-finding attitude of the fans.

Wallace took to X and said (0:29),

“Richard Petty says it was a great race, Jeff Gluck says it was a great race, and you guys are like, ‘Yeah, but there’s still something wrong with the car”. It’s like, for (expletive) sake, people. I mean, it’s like you’re trying to constantly talk about how negative the car is.”

“Have three good races in a row and three races in a row and you’re going, ‘Yeah, but the car’s still no good.’ This cliche is what I think works in this situation… get a (expletive) life,” he added.

For now, all eyes are on the Viva Mexico 250, scheduled for tomorrow at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. The 100-lap event is going to be the first Cup Series race hosted outside of the USA since 1958.

Fans can watch the race live on Amazon Prime Video or listen to radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, 3 pm ET onwards. That’s also the second-last race that Prime Video is going to broadcast this year before TNT Sports takes over.
