For days, the San Antonio Spurs were the odds-on favorites to acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.

But something changed recently, and there is a new team in the running.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, via Evan Sidery, the Minnesota Timberwolves have moved from +400 to -110 to become the favorites to get Durant.

Following the Timberwolves are the Miami Heat with +220, the Spurs with +350, and the Houston Rockets with +700.

What is causing this sudden spike of interest in the Timberwolves, and why are they now the frontrunners?

Durant’s name has been tied to Minnesota for a while, but it felt that the Spurs or another team from Texas had a better shot of landing him.
