Sometimes it seems that everything LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers touches turns to gold, including traffic tickets.
A social media post from Courtside Buzz showed a traffic ticket from James when he was still an NBA rookie.
The ticket just sold at auction for $8,500, a stunning testament to how popular James is.

Even something as minor and inconsequential as a small traffic ticket can make thousands of dollars because of its association with James.
This is yet another sign of what a special, one-of-a-kind player he is.
Yes, some tickets given to other NBA players might generate buzz and money at an auction, but nothing like this.
James’ place in league history was secured a long time ago, even before he started to shatter numerous NBA records.
As his retirement draws closer, there will be more money earned because of him.
This isn’t the last time we will see something like a traffic ticket being sold at auction.
Speaking of retirement, there are questions about how much longer James will play.
At 40 years old, he was still putting up 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game in 2024-25.
That shows that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank and that Father Time isn’t having much luck slowing him down.
Still, retirement will come for James in the next few years.
But it’ll be a long, long time before James memorabilia stops selling so well at auctions.
If anyone has an item that James briefly touched, they will always find buyers wanting to pay for it.
