MANILA, Philippines — As she enters a “whole different level” in the PVL, Adamson spiker May Ann Nuique is grateful to have been drafted by Italian coach Ettore Guidetti as Nxled’s second-round pick in the 2025 Rookie Draft.
Nuique, one of Shaina Nitura’s fellow main gunners for the Lady Falcons in the UAAP Season 87, is entering a new chapter in her life, joining the Chameleons, handled by Guidetti, who is also part of Adamson’s coaching staff.

“At first, it was nerve-wracking because this is the pros. It’s a whole different level. But I’m very grateful that I ended up under Coach Ettore, someone we already know and a very respected coach,” said Nuique in Filipino.
Nuique, who played as opposite spiker and middle blocker, is also teaming up with former Adamson Lady Falcons at Nxled in Chiara Permentilla, Krich Macaslang, and last year’s first-round pick Lucille Almonte.
“I’m also very comfortable with his system. Even if he changes some things, I know I can adjust because I’m already familiar with how he runs things,” said Nuique, who also played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association last year.
Nxled has already signed Nuique and fourth overall pick Lyann De Guzman from Ateneo, as Guidetti drafted both players to take their offense to the next level.
“In my consideration, May Ann is the person who perfectly fits the double role of middle blocker and opposite in our team,” Guidetti said in a video posted by Nxled.
“I’m really happy to welcome to our team, not only two very good players, but also two very good persons,” he added.
The Chameleons parade their new look in the PVL on Tour on June 28 in Batangas, facing the All-Filipino champions, the Petro Gazz Angels, and battling the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on the next day.
