3 Teams Named As Kevin Durant’s Preferred Trade Destinations

Even though we are in the middle of the NBA Finals, that doesn’t mean one of the best players of all time won’t be in trade headlines, because that’s just how the NBA works.

It truly is a 24/7, 365 type of sport, and Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant’s name has already become the hottest commodity off the court as the Suns have started courting teams early to figure out where he’ll be traded this offseason.

As teams around the league are readying their best pitch, ESPN’s Shams Charania recently shared which three organizations are atop Durant’s wish list at the moment.

“The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant’s preferred trade destinations out of Phoenix, sources tell ESPN. Those across the NBA have been made aware in recent days that those are the three teams that Durant would commit to long-term.”

One immediate thing that jumps out is that those three teams are located in Florida and Texas, so perhaps Durant is looking to capitalize on not having to pay any state income taxes as he enters what could be the final chapter of his stellar career.

The Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs are two of the teams that have been connected to him for months ever since he first emerged in trade rumors, as both have strong young foundations and a dire need for a veteran scoring savant like KD.

Miami is a more puzzling fit, as they don’t have the type of young assets to compete with the Rockets and Spurs in a proverbial trade war unless they decide to put exciting young center Kel’el Ware on the table.

Charania also noted that the Suns are going to make the trade that is best for them and won’t simply cater to Durant’s wishes, so even though these three teams have been mentioned, that doesn’t mean anybody else is out of the running.
