MANILA, Philippines—Alex Eala advanced to the next phase of the Nottingham Open qualifying round.
Eala on Saturday trounced Varvara Gracheva of France, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to move a step closer to clinching a spot in the Nottingham Open main draw at Nottingham Tennis Centre in England.

The victory comes just two days after a tough loss in the WTA 125 Ilkley Open quarterfinal at the hands of Rebecca Marino.
Eala’s victory over the French bet moved her closer to being in the main draw of the England tilt.
The 20-year-old Eala takes on Romanian Anca Todoni next in the WTA 250 event.
Todoni made quick work of British Jodie Burrage, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1, to arrange a date with world No. 77 Eala in the next round.
