The 2025 NFL season isn’t kicking off for several months, but there is still a lot of conversation and buzz surrounding this league.
There are a lot of offseason storylines to talk about, and we’ve reached a point where analysts and bettors have started giving out their predictions.
Many people have already made their picks for Super Bowl hopefuls and division winners, but there has also been a fair amount of discourse about potential MVP candidates.
Chris Broussard recently went over his top three dark horse candidates for the award on “First Things First.”
He mentioned three quarterbacks: Caleb Williams, Baker Mayfield, and Brock Purdy.

Mayfield had the best season of these three in 2024, and there’s certainly reason to believe that he can run that success back in 2025, if not outperform what he achieved.
Williams and Purdy have something to prove, especially Williams, who underperformed the expectations of his rookie campaign.
Many believe the Chicago Bears are due for a bounce-back season, and for that to happen, Williams would certainly need to play a lot better.
By this logic, putting him in the MVP conversation makes sense, as he would likely have to put a monster season together.
Purdy was dealing with a lot of injuries up and down the roster for the San Francisco 49ers last year, so there has also been a lot of chatter about his ceiling being elevated in 2025.
The jury is out on whether one of these quarterbacks can win MVP, but there’s an argument to be had for all three.
