MANILA, Philippines—It was another day at the office for Barangay Ginebra guard Stephen Holt on Sunday at Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
At least, that’s how coach Tim Cone described Holt’s performance that led the Gin Kings to a 98-80 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the end of the PBA Philippine Cup elimination round.

The crucial win earned Ginebra the last twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
“This is Stephen at practice. If you guys came to our practice and watched Stephen, this is Stephen all the time. That effort he brings to both sides of the ball is really phenomenal and he really leads by example,” said Cone.
“Tonight, he had a really good shooting night and [he] led us in that department but usually it’s the other things he leads us in, the defense, the ball movement, getting to the boards and back on defense. He was crucial for us tonight.”
Holt starred with 27 points, highlighted by 6-of-11 shooting from long range, 12 rebounds and four assists.

With the victory, the Gin Kings arranged a clash with Converge in the playoffs.
“It was the last game of the eliminations so we just wanted to finish on the right note and just continue this momentum that we have,” said Holt.
“This is our third try at trying to win a championship, so we understand the task at hand and every detail now matters to us,” he added.
