Did the Orlando Magic just improve their chances of making an impact in the East with the addition of Desmond Bane?
A lot of people aren’t so sure, but Colin Cowherd has a strong opinion.
On his show, Cowherd dug into why the Magic made this trade and what it could do for them.
“Why not us? I think Orlando’s looking at these Finals, they’re looking at the Pacers, and saying, ‘Milwaukee, Tatum’s hurt for Boston, New York’s got a ceiling offensively, why not us?’ I love the move by Orlando. Now, they’ve got their core four,” Cowherd said, via Andrew Cherico.

Cowherd added that the trade for Bane gives the Magic a level of “maturity” and “age” that they need right now.
For the last couple of seasons, the Magic have been one of the most exciting young teams in the Eastern Conference, but they haven’t delivered enough to their fans.
That is partly because they have little experience and because they have had shooting problems.
Bane can help with both of those things.
Cowherd believes the team now has its core four and could climb up the standings, especially with Jayson Tatum out and the New York Knicks having their own set of difficulties.
Is Bane really the answer to all of Orlando’s problems?
Fans are forced to take a wait-and-see approach right now because they won’t know the answer to that for a few months.
Expectations for the team are now a lot higher with the addition of Bane, so the Magic will have to make something marvelous in 2025-26.
They have been on the verge of greatness for a while, so will this change push them to where they need to be?
