MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University has relieved Denok Miranda of his position as basketball program director.
FEU appointed Mike Reyes, the brother of TNT coach Chot Reyes, to replace Miranda.

“Coach Mike will now be tasked to take the reins of the UAAP Boys 19 and Boys 16 basketball teams as well as work hand in hand with Coach Sean Chambers to ensure a consistent approach in developing student-athletes from Junior High School to College,” wrote FEU in a statement on Tuesday.
Reyes has his fair share of basketball triumphs with numerous titles under his belt, including a CESAFI championship with Southwestern University in 2019.
The Tamaraws haven’t made the UAAP men’s basketball Final Four since Season 84. They finished sixth last season with a 5-9 record.
FEU also expressed its gratitude to its former basketball star Miranda despite the program’s lack of success under his leadership.

“We thank former program head Denok Miranda for the work he has done with FEU basketball the past years and wish him the best.”
Miranda, who helped FEU win two championships as a player in 2003 and 2004, coached the Tamaraws in Season 86 with the squad winning only three games.
Miranda’s exit comes less than a month after young star Veejay Pre left the team and transferred to University of the Philippines.
