NRL news 2025 | Anthony Seibold meetings with players, Manly Sea Eagles season, form; Paul Gallen comments; Tom Trbojevic to centre; Lachlan Croker and Jason Saab dropped

Anthony Seibold is set to be under serious scrutiny at the Manly Sea Eagles after revelations a series of meetings with players wasn’t well received by parts of the group.

Manly are currently 11th on the ladder and have lost their last two matches against the Knights and Titans.

As a result, Seibold held seven minute meetings with all of his players, according to 9news and The Sydney Morning Herald reporter Michael Chammas.

“They were all given a document with criticism around their performances to start the year and where he wants them to improve,” he said on Nine’s 100% Footy.

“I was told it didn’t go down well with some certain sections of the playing group, the fact that it’s providing problems rather than solutions.”

Manly have the bye this week but it was further revealed Lachlan Croker and Jason Saab will be dropped to NSW Cup. Tom Trbojevic will also be moved to the centres for Manly’s next match against the Tigers on June 27 with Lehi Hopoate to play fullback.

Seibold is also reportedly under pressure to keep his job, with the matches against the Tigers and then the Rabbitohs set to play a significant role in his future.

Manly CEO Tony Mestrov told the Herald that the coach “is safe at this point”.

“Seibs understands this as well as I do, it’s all about winning games. Seibs is safe at this point,” he said.

Paul Gallen was astounded the noise around Seibold was coming from the playing group.

“You don’t always agree with what your boss says but at the end of the day he’s your boss, you’ve got to respect what the boss says and does,” he said.

“He’s putting his name forward and he’s the boss out there. When you start questioning the boss that’s when things start to go wrong.”
