The Toronto Raptors may be plotting a dramatic roster overhaul as they search for ways to return to playoff relevance.
After missing the postseason entirely, the franchise has emerged as an unexpected player in pursuit of one of the NBA’s biggest stars.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, Toronto may be willing to move RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Jakob Poeltl in pursuit of Durant.
If they land him, it could mark the beginning of a brand-new era for the franchise.
“Sources say that the Raptors would be willing to part with either RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley for a significant roster upgrade. Several league figures with knowledge of the Raptors’ thinking have likewise asserted that they could show a willingness to move center Jakob Poeltl as well … provided that the trade in question brought back Durant,” Fischer said, per NBA Central.

The pursuit comes with considerable financial implications. Durant is set to earn $54.7 million next season while entering the final year of his current contract.
The 36-year-old superstar would also be eligible for a two-year, $122 million extension with any new team.
Toronto faces stiff competition for Durant’s services.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the former MVP has expressed interest in joining San Antonio, Houston, or Miami. Notably absent from that list is Toronto, creating additional hurdles for the Raptors’ pursuit.
Despite the challenges, the Raptors remain undeterred.
The organization monitored Durant’s situation leading up to February’s trade deadline and continues to position itself as a potential landing spot should the Phoenix Suns consider moving their star forward.
Trading away young talent like Barrett and Quickley for an aging superstar carries inherent risks, but landing Durant could instantly transform the franchise’s championship aspirations.
