Cowboys Are Signing Veteran CB

The Dallas Cowboys continue adding pieces to their roster as training camp approaches.

The franchise has already navigated an eventful offseason filled with coaching changes and roster adjustments.

Now, with Brian Schottenheimer set to make his debut as head coach, Dallas remains active in shaping the squad for the upcoming season.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys reached a one-year agreement with veteran cornerback Robert Rochell, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.

“Cowboys signing veteran corner Robert Rochell, per a league source… Successful workout leads to signing for Rochell and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, per sources,” Wilson wrote.

Rochell was among five players who recently worked out for the team and made a strong enough impression to earn a contract.

Schottenheimer and his staff clearly liked what they saw, giving Rochell an opportunity to contribute in a revamped Cowboys defense.

The veteran cornerback spent his most recent stint with the Green Bay Packers, where he lined up alongside Jaire Alexander.

Alexander was the corner Cowboys fans had hoped for before he signed with Baltimore on Wednesday.

Rochell has appeared in 48 games over four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and Packers, contributing mainly on special teams with 25 tackles, an interception, and three forced fumbles.

During the 2024 season, Rochell played just one defensive snap but saw 121 snaps on special teams for Green Bay.

The Central Arkansas product was originally drafted by the Rams in the fourth round of 2021. He was thrust into a starting role as a rookie, but an injury cut that season short and affected the following year.

The Rams eventually released him during the 2023 preseason roster cuts before Green Bay claimed him.

Despite previous setbacks, Rochell continues drawing interest from teams seeking depth and special teams value.
