The No. 2 pick in the 2024 MLB draft is getting the call to the majors.
Right-hander Chase Burns, the Cincinnati Reds‘ top prospect, will make his big league debut in a start against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
The 22-year-old pitcher is the No. 11-ranked prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline.
In his first pro season, Burns quickly worked his way up to triple-A where he has a 2.19 ERA over two starts. He also posted 12.14 strikeouts per nine innings through his 13 total starts in the minors.
The Reds sit fourth in the NL Central with a 39-38 record, 7.5 games back of the Chicago Cubs atop the division.
