The Boston Celtics sent away Jrue Holiday on Monday night, shipping him out to the Portland Trail Blazers in place of Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks.
But fans should prepare for more news, because Boston likely isn’t done yet.
According to Evan Sidery, the Celtics “remain in active negotiations on other rotation players.”
“Still $20 million over the second apron, another salary-cutting trade or two is on the horizon for Boston,” Sidery wrote.

Holiday is gone, but he won’t be the last one.
The question is how many players the Celtics will acquire during the offseason and how much it’ll cost them.
They are already over the second apron, which means they need to be very strategic, or else they will be paying way too much in taxes.
It’s possible to make smart moves that don’t cost too much, but Brad Stevens and his staff will need to be very careful.
Fans are a little nervous about the Celtics right now.
They are set to be without Jayson Tatum next season, and the Eastern Conference could be getting tougher.
While offseason changes might be helpful, they could also possibly set the Celtics back.
That’s trouble for a team that was looking so good for most of the season.
They don’t want to backtrack and slip up just one season after winning their 18th championship.
Stevens has the trust of the Celtics fanbase, so they are willing to see what ideas he comes up with.
The front office is quietly working behind the scenes to create an ever stronger and healthier team in 2025-26.
