Four-star TE Ian Premer commits to Notre Dame

The luck of the Irish has struck again.

That’s because four-star tight end Ian Premer has committed to the team. The Great Bend (Ind.) High standout committed to Notre Dame over Kansas State, Iowa State and Kansas.

Before he took the official visit to Notre Dame the Kansas native told Rivals what he was looking for in a school. This description seemed to fit Notre Dame perfectly.

“To start off the winning pedigree,” Premer said. “I’m a big time competitor, so I want to go to a school that’s gonna be successful and win.

“Then I can continue to help them win. Along with that is tight end utilization. Are they in 12 personnel a lot or are they throwing the tight end the ball? Then are they developing players for the NFL? The last thing I would say is just the feel and the culture of the place and if I could kind of see myself in that.”

After the official visit, Premer saw exactly what he needed to see. He knew that Notre Dame was the place for him.

“I think for me on the football side of it, they had a national championship run last year and I think the ‘26 class speaks for itself with the type of guys they’re getting and that want to be a part of it,” Premer said.

“Coach Freeman has developed an amazing culture there and you can tell from all the commits. Then obviously I love the coaching staff and that’s just the football side of it. You go to the academic side of it and obviously they’re special in that area too. So it’s just a combination of things and I think that’s why I realized it was the place for me.”

Premer is a versatile tight end that should be an immediate downfield threat for the Irish. His exploits on the basketball court also earned his All-State honors there too. Premer is explosive on the basketball court and the athleticism translates to the football field.

He joins a Notre Dame class that now ranks in the top five in the country. Premer is the second tight end in the class joining fast-riser Preston Fryzel who recently committed.
