Nuggets Owner Reveals ‘Nightmare Scenario’ For Team

The Denver Nuggets are two years removed from winning the NBA Finals.

They had a chance to repeat last season, but lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals, and had another strong team this year, but also fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.

This team has proven to be consistently solid over the past three seasons, an organization that has tapped into a winning mindset that has spread throughout the locker room and front office.

Despite their success, the NBA is a business that can sometimes put owners and GMs in uncomfortable positions.

Nuggets owner Josh Kroenke found himself in one of those positions in a recent press conference shared by NBA Central on X, where he admitted that a situation could arise where the team would need to trade Nikola Jokic.

“The wrong person gets injured, and very quickly, you’re into a scenario I never want to have to contemplate, which is trading number 15,” Kroenke said.

This comment seemingly came out of nowhere and has quickly gone viral in NBA circles.

Suggesting that Jokic would ever be on the trade block has not been publicly mentioned, as he is the cornerstone of this team and one of the best players in the league.

However, Luka Doncic was said to be a member of the Dallas Mavericks for life, much like Dirk Nowitzki, but he ended up getting traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

That move proved that anything can happen in this league, and no matter the contract or team situation, no player is safe from being traded or moved on from, even an MVP like Jokic.
