Five NBA first-round picks who will make an instant impact

The 2025 NBA Draft was loaded with upside, but not every rookie is built to produce right away. Here are five first-rounders poised to make the biggest immediate impact in Year 1.

Ace Bailey, Utah Jazz, wing

Despite it not being one of Bailey’s preferred destinations, Utah pulled the trigger (as we know Danny Ainge throughout history to do). He has all the tools to be Utah’s next franchise cornerstone. The 6-foot-9 wing brings elite athleticism, shot-making and switchable defense. With the Jazz embracing a youth movement and Collin Sexton and John Collins on their way out soon, Bailey will get every opportunity to play heavy minutes right away as a starter. Expect him to fill the stat sheet while energizing a loyal fan base hungry for a new star.

Cooper Flagg, Dallas Mavericks, forward

Flagg couldn’t have landed in a better spot. Flanking Luka Doncic and Dereck Lively II, Flagg brings high-IQ play, elite help defense and the ability to make winning plays without needing the ball. His cutting, rebounding and shot-blocking will be massive for a Dallas team with title aspirations. He won’t average 20, but Flagg could start from day one and make a playoff-level difference.

Egor Demin, Brooklyn Nets, guard

It’s Demin time in Brooklyn. Egor said “This is my house now!”
