The Pittsburgh Steelers headed into the offseason without a clear plan to address their quarterback position.
Many expected them to find their new starter in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they didn’t make any notable moves over this three-day event.
Then, rumors started forming about the potential of Aaron Rodgers joining the team, but nothing materialized for several weeks.
When it seemed like Rodgers was going to take his talents elsewhere and not join the Steelers, the organization announced that they were bringing in the four-time MVP.
This was met with both scrtunity and positivity from fans and members of the media.
On one hand, Rodgers has won a lot in Green Bay and has plenty of experience as a starting quarterback, and on the other hand, his injury history and recent performances have raised many questions.
Analyst LaVar Arrington raised some concerns in a recent appearance on FOX Sports Radio after Rodgers spoke on the “Pat McAfee Show.”
“Why are you bringing this guy in to play for your team? This is a horrible mistake,” Arrington said.
“This is a BIG GIANT RED FLAG! Why is Pittsburgh doing this? Why are you bringing in this guy to play for your team? This is a horrible mistake. I hope Rodgers takes this opportunity and doesn’t **** Mike Tomlin.”

In Arrington’s mind, Rodgers isn’t the player he would have chosen for this team, and he’s worried that Rodgers will tarnish Mike Tomlin’s legacy.
Tomlin, of course, is said to be one of the best coaches in the NFL over the past decade, and if the team fails with Rodgers at the helm, there’s a chance that he might not be with the team for much longer.
After all, seasons over .500 only get a coach so far, and without a substantial playoff run, it’ll be interesting to see how much longer of a leash the Steelers’ ownership will give Tomlin.
