The Pittsburgh Steelers made another significant move this offseason, trading for Jalen Ramsey in a bold attempt to stay competitive in the AFC North.
Ramsey has embraced his new team, posting photos on social media with a smiley face cap next to his new Steelers jersey, proudly sporting the No. 5.
It will be the fifth consecutive season he’ll don that number.

The No. 5 jersey was previously assigned to cornerback D’Shawn Jamison, who spent last year on Pittsburgh’s practice squad without seeing any game action.
Ramsey’s history with the No. 5 jersey began in 2021 when he switched from No. 20 while with the Los Angeles Rams.
He continued to wear No. 5 during his time with the Miami Dolphins. Prior to that, he wore No. 20 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Steelers made a major splash by trading for Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith, along with a seventh-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Ramsey reportedly received a $1.5 million raise, bringing his 2025 earnings to $26.6 million.
The Steelers’ front office is hoping this latest move will complement newcomers Aaron Rodgers and D.K. Metcalf on offense so they can challenge the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals in their division.
This trade also put an end to the lingering rumors surrounding Ramsey since the Dolphins revealed they were exploring options.
Ramsey stayed away from all of Miami’s offseason activities, including mandatory minicamp, signaling that a move was imminent.
