Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser shows ‘tougher’ resolve for TNT

MANILA, Philippines—TNT big man Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had one thing in mind entering Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

In a quest to go up 3-1 over Rain or Shine in the best-of-seven affair, Ganuelas-Rosser vowed to be tougher for the Tropang 5G.

Ganuelas-Rosser did just that to push the squad on the cusp of their third straight Finals appearance.

“Yesterday and today, coach (Chot Reyes) really challenged us in terms of our toughness. That’s all it was, we had to be tougher,” said the former NLEX big after TNT’s 108-92 win at Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday,

“I took it personal and today, I made sure I was available to play tough and be active.”

When Kelly Williams went down with an ankle injury in the first half of the game, TNT needed another big man to assume the role of anchor down the paint.

Enter Ganuelas-Rosser.

The 31-year-old bruiser turned in a monster double-double to the tune of 22 points and 11 rebounds in almost 41 tiresome minutes.

“Xs and Os can be talked about but for the past two days, coach showed us clips and said you have to be tough. When we’re solid and strong, we give ourselves some opportunities to be effective,” he said.

Ganuelas-Rosser backstopped other TNT bigs Poy Erram and Henry Galinato, who both scored eight points in the crucial series win.

The Tropang 5G hope to have more of Ganuelas-Rosser’s toughness this Friday when they attempt to close out the Elasto Painters at Araneta Coliseum for Game 5.
