The Boston Celtics are going to look a lot different during the 2025-26 NBA season.
They have moved on from key players in the early stages of the offseason, including Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
With Jayson Tatum likely sidelined for all of next season with an Achilles injury, the moves might indicate that the Celtics want to rebuild until he gets back.
Yet, the Celtics aren’t a team that has rebuilding tendencies, so the front office might try to acquire additional players over the next few months to compete for a playoff berth.
Now, without Holiday and Porzingis, the Celtics also have to find a bench piece to replace Luke Kornet, who reportedly agreed to a four-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs.
Tatum took a moment to send a message to his former teammate on social media.
“Much deserved,” Tatum wrote, via Daniel Donabedian.

Kornet appeared in 73 games for the Celtics this season and made his time on the court count with 6.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, a big reason he got an upgrade as a free agent.
The Eastern Conference isn’t getting any easier, and while the Celtics are generally well-run, they will put a new-look team on the floor just one season removed from an NBA championship.
The Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks will provide a stiff challenge, so the Celtics need to keep up if they want to be viewed as contenders again.
