Kevin Quiambao arrives in Sacramento for NBA Summer League bid


—Kevin Quiambao has officially begun his pursuit of a spot in the NBA Summer League Quiambao, the Korean Basketball League (KBL) revelation, arrived in Sacramento on Thursday to try out for a spot in the Kings' Summer League team roster.

MANILA, Philippines—Kevin Quiambao has officially begun his pursuit of a spot in the NBA Summer League

Quiambao, the Korean Basketball League (KBL) revelation, arrived in Sacramento on Thursday to try out for a spot in the Kings’ Summer League team roster.

In his Instagram stories, Quiambao reposted clips of him during training and scrimmeages.

Coincidentally, the two-time UAAP MVP will be training under another mentor with Filipino roots in the form of Jimmy Alapag.

Alapag, a TNT legend and a PBA household name in the late 2010s, is currently serving as a strength and conditioning coach for the Kings in the NBA.

Quiambao is coming off a huge rookie season with Goyang in the KBL where he averaged 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 23 games played for the Sono Skygunners.

The 6-foot-7 forward is under contract with the Skygunners but since revealing his intentions of trying out for a spot in the NBA, the Goyang management gave him the green light.

Only time will tell if Quiambao will be given an opportunity to shine by the Kings when they play their first game of the NBA Summer League on July 11 at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
