Guerrero missed Friday’s series opener after fouling a ball off his foot during Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees.

The 26-year-old will bat third as the designated hitter.

Guerrero, who was recently named as a starter for the American League All-Star team, has 12 home runs and 44 RBIs with a .274/.378/.439 slash line.

Right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer (0-0, 4.85 ERA) will make his third start with the Blue Jays since returning from the injured list last month.

The AL East-leading Blue Jays (50-38) won Friday’s opener 4-3 after the Angels committed a throwing error in the 10th inning.
