The Tennessee Titans may have found their quarterback of the future.
However, as promising as Cam Ward is, he still has to prove it on the field.
At least, that’s how JC Latham feels.
The veteran offensive tackle recently said that Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has to win the starting job over Will Levis.
“Will’s not just gonna sit over here and say, ‘Oh, we drafted him, go ahead take it.’ Cam’s not gonna expect it to just be given to him,” Latham said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Throughout the spring, I think that’s the one thing that all the coaches and players on the team have seen, like both of them taking the challenge of trying to really earn the spot and really fight for the spot. It’s made them better. You can see the improvements from Will and you can see the sharpness of Cam.”

That’s the kind of mindset you want from any quarterback or player on the team.
Ward has been the favorite to take the reins right away, as Levis didn’t seem to pose much of a threat after his disastrous first season as the Titans’ starting QB.
There have also been positive reports about Ward’s impressive work ethic and leadership skills.
Then again, there are no free rides in the NFL.
Success is rarely about where you went to college or what draft pick you were.
Multiple top selections have struggled, and everybody has to earn their stripes, regardless of what they did in the past.
Ward has all the potential in the world, but that will be meaningless if he doesn’t put in the work and try to get better and lead by example every day.
