For most of their history, Philadelphia Eagles fans have drawn a bad reputation.
They’re ruthless, and they’re not going to let anything slide.
However, that’s also why Jared Verse loves them.
In a recent interview, the Los Angeles Rams’ young star admitted that he thought the Eagles had the best fan base in the league:
“Probably the Eagles,” Verse answered when asked to name the NFL’s best opposing fan base. “I’ve got to give them that. I like when you kind of like get into it, you’re aggressive, you’re loud and all that stuff. They stand by that with no doubt. Playing the Eagles is like playing your rival in college. You never know what they’re going to say and they’re gonna try to say disrespectful stuff. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not gonna say anything where you’re like, ‘Bro, you crossed a line,” but they’re gonna say some stuff where you’re like, ‘Who you talkin’ to?’”
That’s not necessarily a hot take.
Many opposing fans and players hate Eagles fans because they’re absolutely brutal and ruthless to them.
Nevertheless, few fan bases have been more supportive of their team than Eagles Nation.
We’re talking about a fan base that endured decades of heartbreak and constantly falling short of their goals.
It wasn’t until the last decade that they finally got to celebrate a Super Bowl win.
Of course, they’re loud, harsh, and they’re going to let everybody have a piece of their mind, but you can also argue that they’re one of the most loyal and caring groups of fans in all sports, not just in the NFL.
Those who make it in the City of Brotherly Love become living legends.
That’s also a double-edged sword, which is why playing in Philadelphia isn’t for everybody.
Verse is just walking the first steps of his career, and it will be a while before he becomes a free agent.
But if that day comes, perhaps the Eagles will want to give him a call.
