Veteran Chris Ross, Don Trollano, Jericho Cruz and Rodney Brondial provided the ample support for June Mar Fajardo and the Beermen weathered an 11-point deficit in the second half to overcome a Gin Kings squad that forced the do-or-die affair before 12,279 fans.

Ross came through when it was needed, like in past championship runs, and posted 19 points, three rebounds, seven assists and four steals while Fajardo had 21 points and 19 rebounds despite battling through a calf injury throughout the series.

The Beermen will face the Tropang 5G for the most prestigious championship of the PBA season on Sunday when the best-of-seven title series starts at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ginebra was denied a third straight meeting with TNT despite leading for most of the way behind a steady outside shooting led by Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo and RJ Abarrientos.

But the crowd favorites couldn’t sustain their form, and eventually the Beermen caught up behind the five coach Leo Austria inserted in the aforementioned Ross, Trollano, Cruz, Brondial and Fajardo.

Malonzo finished with 22 points while Thompson and Abarrientos had 16 apiece for the Gin Kings.
