Gilas Pilipinas will have an additional tune-up match before the Fiba Asia Cup as it is scheduled to face Jordan on Aug. 2.
Coach Tim Cone confirmed the exhibition that will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where the continental tournament will be staged. It will come four days before Gilas opens its campaign against Chinese-Taipei.

“Jordan has asked us to have a friendly on Aug. 2 when we arrive in Jeddah,” Cone said during the launch of the new Gilas uniforms designed by Adidas at Monarch Manila in Makati City. “We will be leaving on the 31st, then we will have a practice game against Jordan.”
Jordan, which placed fourth in the 2022 edition held in Indonesia, was drawn in Group C alongside China, India and host Saudi Arabia.

The national cagers are scheduled to have a “send-off game” against the Macau Black Bears on July 28 at Smart Araneta Coliseum before flying to Saudi to finalize preparations for the competition.
Gilas began preparations for the Asia Cup last Monday at Upper Deck Sports Center in Ortigas, though the session was limited to film viewing and light workouts.
Cone has plans to schedule practice sessions on a regular basis, especially with Justin Brownlee and AJ Edu already in town to join the Gilas buildup.
June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez and Calvin Oftana are expected to participate full time once the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel Beer and TNT have concluded.
