Western Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been cleared of wrongdoing after being questioned by police over a drive-by shooting in Glen Iris.
Ugle-Hagan’s car is suspected by police to have been involved in the June 11 incident, according to 9 News.
71-year old Douglas Lee reported his car was shot at three times outside his Glen Iris home, which police believe was a case of mistaken identity.
There is no suggestion Ugle-Hagan was in any way involved in the shooting.
“Investigators have identified a vehicle of interest in relation to this investigation. That vehicle is yet to be located, but investigators have spoken with the registered owner of the car and are satisfied that they were not involved in the incident,” a police statement reads, according to The Age.
The incident continues the 23-year old’s turbulent season off the field, which has seen him spend extended periods away from the Bulldogs and not play a single game for the club.
The Bulldogs have released a statement saying they are ‘satisfied’ Ugle-Hagan is not involved.
“The club is satisfied that Jamarra was not involved in the incident and that he had not been in possession of the vehicle for some time before it occurred,” the statement reads.
“Jamarra has fully co-operated with the subsequent police investigation. The club is continuing to support Jamarra as he works through the management plan that was developed with him earlier this year.”
Ugle-Hagan posted to social media a fortnight ago, after the alleged incident, claiming that another vehicle belonging to him had been stolen.
He is contracted to the Bulldogs until the end of 2026, but is widely expected to move elsewhere at the end of the season, having only sporadically trained.
He recently returned to the club, but has reportedly again been absent during the week for personal reasons.
