AJ Allmendinger was the lone NASCAR Cup Series driver to break into the 75-second bracket during Saturday’s Cup Series practice session at Sonoma and was fastest in practice.
Allmendinger, a road course ace and three-time Cup Series winner, put together a fastest lap of 75.950 seconds to lead the session.
Ty Gibbs, Chicago winner Shane van Gisbergen, Ross Chastain and defending Sonoma winner Kyle Larson rounded out the top five, with Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, 2022 Sonoma winner Daniel Suarez, Tyler Reddick and John Hunter Nemechek completing the top 10.
Other notable practice results include William Byron in 11th, Chase Elliott in 15th, Kyle Busch in 18th, Michael McDowell in 22nd and Denny Hamlin in 24th. Bubba Wallace and Carson Hocevar were 27th and 28th in the session, respectively. Reddick and Chastain ran the most laps in the session with 18.
Katherine Legge was the slowest of 37 drivers in the session, posting a fastest lap of 81.749 seconds in her first trip to Sonoma in a stock car.
