ILAGAN, Isabela—Farm Fresh brought down a second straight PVL heavyweight on Sunday as Trisha Tubu got a lot of help from the seasoned Rachel Anne Daquis in a 25-23, 25-21, 25-23 On Tour conquest of Petro Gazz at Capital Arena.

Tubu was again clutch and led the Foxies back from 21-18 down in the third set to complete the sweep that was a fitting follow-up to a four-set triumph over crowd-darling Choco Mucho last Saturday also in front of a huge gallery.

A former Adamson star in the UAAP, Tubu went on to lead all Farm Fresh scorers with 15 points.

If at all, the last two wins of the Foxies have just validated the system of new coach Alessandro Lodi, who pulled a rabbit out of his hat in Daquis, who had her moments in the second set that helped stabilize Farm Fresh.

“We didn’t think of anything else but to execute coach Lodi’s game plan,” Jolina Dela Cruz, who was also big in the third set and finished with 12 points, said in Filipino. “We had some early struggles, but we gradually became more patient and just enjoyed the game.”

Farm Fresh rose to 2-1 in Pool A play and the Foxies are looking every inch as contenders, especially with setter Alohi Robins-Hardy slowly but surely getting into shape and distributing the offense well.

The win was a heavy blow to Petro Gazz’s campaign as the Angels, who continue to be without Alas Pilipinas pool members Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips, dropped to 1-3 to be in danger of elimination.

Myla Pablo picked up the cudgels and led Petro Gazz with 18 points, but for the second straight game, lacked support. Aiza Pontillas managed six points while Jonah Sabete was limited to five as the Angels continued to reel from the absence of their Alas Pilipinas stars.

In contrast, Farm Fresh dominated at the net with a 40-28 edge in attack points, overcoming a whopping 30 unforced errors, mostly on service. Petro Gazz also struggled with errors, yielding 23 points of its own.
