Every Canadian taken in 2025 MLB Draft

After 16 Canadians were selected in last year’s MLB Draft, a new crop of Canucks will have their pro baseball dreams realized during the two-day event in 2025.

With a handful of Canadians graduating to the major-league level in recent years, the draft has proven to be a launching point for the next generation of talent from north of the border.

Follow along on Sportsnet.ca to see each Canadian who hears their name called during the 2025 Draft.

2. Tyler Bremner
Team: Los Angeles Angels
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Right
Born: San Diego | School: UC Santa Barbara

Born to Canadian parents in San Diego, Bremner lands with the Angels after being ranked as one of the top right-handed pitchers in the 2025 class. A six-foot-two righty with a devastating changeup, Bremner has stated that he would like to honour his late mother, who passed away last month, and play for Canada at the World Baseball Classic. The all-time UC Santa Barbara strikeout king, Bremner can touch 98 with his fastball and was one of college baseball’s preeminent control artists, walking just 6.1 per cent of the hitters he faced in 2025.

37. Slater de Brun
Team: Baltimore Orioles
Position: OF | Age: 18
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
Born: Los Angeles | School: Summit HS (Ore.)

A five-foot-nine speedster from Oregon, de Brun holds a Canadian passport, thanks to his Mother, Julie, who attended McGill University and worked in Toronto, according to the Canadian Baseball Network. The top-ranked prep outfielder in this year’s draft, de Brun profiles as a top-of-the-order centre-fielder who uses a keen eye at the plate and excellent bat-to-ball skills to get the most out of his speed at the plate. The Orioles are getting more than an outfield prospect, though, as de Brun is also an aspiring music producer under the nickname Lil Slayyy.

41. Charles Davalan
Team: Los Angeles Dodgers
Position: OF | Age: 21
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
Born: Waterloo, Ont. | School: University of Arkansas

Davalan delivered a standout sophomore campaign for Arkansas after beginning his college career at Florida Gulf Coast University. Born in Ontario and raised in Quebec, the five-foot-nine outfielder brings a stingy approach and elite ability to put the bat on the ball to the Dodgers. Davalan served as the Razorbacks’ leadoff hitter in 2025, walking more than he struck out while posting a .433 OBP, stealing 10 bases and adding on 14 homers. He spent most of the year playing left field for Arkansas, but also has college experience in the other two outfield spots and at second base.

65. Cam Leiter
Team: Los Angeles Dodgers
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Right
Born: Tampa, Fla. | School: Florida State University

Leiter lived in Canada for almost 10 years, growing up in British Columbia. Leiter’s mother is from Maple Ridge, and his uncle, Al, was a member of the 1992, ’93 Blue Jays and a two-time all-star. The six-foot-five right-hander missed the entirety of the 2025 season after undergoing shoulder surgery. When healthy, Leiter was seen as one of the most explosive pitchers in the draft, throwing a running fastball that has been up to 99 m.p.h., a curveball, slider and changeup. After transferring to Florida State in 2024, Leiter struck out 56 hitters in 35.0 innings while posting a 4.63 ERA.

70. Will Hynes
Team: Cleveland Guardians
Position: Pitcher | Age: 18
Throws: Right
Born: Toronto, Ont. | School: Lorne Park Secondary (Ont.)

Hynes goes to the Guardians with the 70th pick after an impressive amateur career north of the border. The six-foot-two right-hander has long been one of Canada’s top pitching prospects in the class of 2025 and has been a consistent member of the Canadian Junior National Team in recent years. Hynes throws a mid-90s fastball, high-spin slider and a changeup to round out his arsenal, which helped him earn a commitment to NCAA pitching factory Wake Forest. He becomes the most recent Canadian to land with the Guardians, who have a handful of Canucks across their organization.
