Michael Porter Jr. is moving on from the Denver Nuggets, but he’s excited to see what he can achieve with the Brooklyn Nets.
Porter hasn’t said much since his recent trade to the Nets, but he talked with Erik Slater about what he brings to his new team.
According to him, he hasn’t reached his potential yet, but he wants to for the Nets.
“I averaged 20 [points] one year. Last year, I was around 18 as the third option. I just feel like I have more in my tank still. I don’t feel like I’ve reached my peak, and I’m excited to grow my game, expand my game, explore my game, and see what I could do,” Porter said.
Asked Michael Porter Jr. why he felt his ceiling “plateaued” in Denver and what he’s expecting with Brooklyn:

Porter is right: he averaged 18.2 points last season for the Nuggets.
He also put up 7.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from the three-point line.
The playoffs were a different story, however, and he produced just 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.6 assists.
For much of last season, some Nuggets fans said it was time to move on from Porter.
Yes, he was nursing an injury, but some people believed that he wasn’t contributing to the team in the ways that they needed.
Therefore, it wasn’t surprising when he was sent packing to the Nets.
Porter thinks that he still has a lot of gas left in his tank, and he can envision himself doing great things for the Nets.
And Brooklyn will certainly need him more than the Nuggets did.
They are trying to build a new identity and climb up from the bottom of the East.
So, they could turn to Porter and ask him to lead.
Is he ready for that challenge?
This new statement from him proves he is ready to try and thinks this could be the start of a new, exciting chapter in his career.
Porter’s days of being a third option may finally be behind him.
