Warner Music Group is hiring for a Director of AI Automation & Growth role, based in Los Angeles.
According to a job advert posted last week, the position will focus on “identifying, developing, and implementing innovative AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency and drive strategic growth”.
Reporting to WMG’s EVP, Strategy, Integration & Operations, the ideal candidate is described as “a passionate AI advocate with a deep enthusiasm for AI and automation, believing in their potential to revolutionize business processes”.
The Director will be responsible for defining “a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for leveraging AI and automation to achieve business objectives”, in collaboration with “global leaders and stakeholders across various departments”.
A key part of the role will involve automating existing business processes and workflows, with one of the primary goals being to “identify and prioritize automation opportunities” across the organization.
To achieve this, the successful candidate will “recruit, lead, and develop a team of AI analysts” and will ultimately “guide the organization through a seamless transition to AI-powered operations”.
Warner says it’s looking for “an expert in AI-accelerated development” to fill the role, with “a strong, practical grasp of the current AI landscape and the modern frameworks used to build full-stack AI applications, including Next.js, React, and Django”.
The ad continues: “Experience with agentic frameworks like LangGraph is a big bonus.”
Simultaneously, Warner is hiring for an AI Automation & Growth Analyst, also based in Los Angeles.
For that role, WMG is seeking a candidate who can “[a[nalyze operational workflows to identify opportunities and implement robust, automated solutions that directly impact efficiency and decision-making”.
While much industry attention has focused on the implications of generative and creative AI applications in music, less has been paid to AI’s potential to transform business operations and internal processes in music companies, and the implications this could have on hiring practices.
WMG isn’t the only major label exploring this particular application of AI.
Sony Music Group is currently advertising for a Modern Workplace Technology Transformation Lead.
Also based in New York, this role similarly focuses on “the integration and adoption of AI” across the business.
The successful candidate will “champion best practices for AI adoption, including user training, feedback collection, and ROI evaluation.”
The advert explicitly mentions Microsoft’s AI chatbot Copilot as a tool the candidate will be expected to use to “enhance organizational efficiency and innovation”.Music Business Worldwide
