James Anderson could feature in The Hundred this season after Manchester Originals selected him as one of their wildcard picks.
Anderson, now 42 years old, is regarded as one of England’s greatest ever cricketers. His remarkable 25-year career has encompassed over 400 appearances and nearly 1,000 wickets at international level.
In this year’s Vitality Blast he’s claimed 14 wickets in his first eight matches of the competition.
If he plays for Originals, Anderson will become the second-oldest player ever to play in The Hundred, behind Imran Tahir – who was 43 years and 149 days old when he last featured back in 2022.
Each team selects two men’s and two women’s players in the Vitality Wildcard Draft to bolster their squad.
The process gives an opportunity for players previously unselected for The Hundred to put themselves in contention through outstanding form in the first three months of the English domestic cricket season.
