The New York Knicks have some choices to make this summer, with the possibility of adding another player on a veteran’s minimum contract.
According to Ian Begley, the Knicks could be signing Ben Simmons.
“Who might the Knicks sign with that veteran’s minimum deal? They have continued to touch base with Ben Simmons during the free agency period. I’m sure they have touched base with other vets as well,” Begley wrote, per NBACentral.

Simmons split last season between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.
He posted 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists during his time with the Nets, and fans were hoping he’d do more with the Clippers.
But his numbers slipped even more, and he averaged 2.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists with Los Angeles.
The last few seasons have been filled with injuries and diminishing returns for Simmons, but that doesn’t mean teams won’t continue to work with him, hoping he can produce something off the bench.
For the right price, he could be worth it to the Knicks or another franchise.
The price would definitely be cheap for the Knicks, and the veteran’s minimum salary wouldn’t hurt their bottom line much.
However, Begley said that New York is also looking at stars like Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.
They obviously want to fill out their roster with a guard who will come in with a cheap contract.
Will Simmons help them, and can he play like the All-Star he once was?
If the Knicks keep their expectations in check and don’t spend too much, Simmons could be a nice pick-up for them in the offseason.
