Josh Allen discusses Bills being featured on ‘Hard Knocks: Training Camp’

Regardless of how people within the Buffalo Bills truly feel about the situation, the club will be featured on this year’s edition of the “Hard Knocks: Training Camp” program.

During a recent chat with Scott Thompson of Fox News Digital, Bills quarterback and reigning MVP Josh Allen discussed having to deal with the “Hard Knocks” assignment as he prepares to once again pursue the first Super Bowl appearance of his career.

“First and foremost, cannot let it become a distraction,” Allen explained. “Got to keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s trying to be the best we can be on the field. Making sure we’re doing everything right, and not letting the cameras distract us. I think that’s going to be a sign of a good team.”

Many NFL analysts and commentators expect the Bills to be more than just a good team later this year. As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens tied as the betting favorites at +650 odds to win Super Bowl LX. That same outlet had Allen and Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson tied as the betting favorites at +550 odds to claim the MVP Award for the upcoming season after they finished one-two in voting for the 2024 campaign.

One interesting storyline for “Hard Knocks” could involve Allen discussing the fact that he’s now 0-4 against the Kansas City Chiefs in postseason play following Buffalo’s 32-29 defeat at Arrowhead Stadium in this year’s AFC Championship Game. It sounds like he wouldn’t dance around questions if asked in front of cameras about the Bills not being able to topple Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs when it matters the most.

“You want to be a star and the face of this and that and the other? Let your play take care of it,” Allen told Thompson. “Still be yourself and let your personality out. I think [head coach Sean McDermott] has been doing a great job ever since I was rookie of making sure, whoever you are, be that person all the time, right? Being as authentic as possible is one of the greatest qualities that you can have, and this is no different.”

Football fans will be treated to a rematch of this past January’s thrilling divisional-round playoff game when the Bills host the Ravens for a Week 1 “Sunday Night Football” matchup on Sept. 7. As of July 17, Buffalo was a 1.5-point favorite for that contest.
