The Aurora, Ont., native has spent the last three seasons with West Virginia University, hitting .310 with 19 home runs and 111 RBI in 161 career games. He missed time this season with a shoulder injury but still managed to record a .361 batting average and a team-leading 69 hits.
White joined the Mountaineers as a catching prospect but has also spent time at second base, third base, left field and designated hitter.
This past season, White led the Mountaineers with a .361 batting average and was named to the ABCA All-East Region First Team as well as All-Big 12 honourable mention over the last two seasons.
White is the third player from West Virginia to join the Blue Jays, joining Alek Manoah and Braden Barry. He is also the seventh player from West Virginia to either be drafted or signed by an MLB team this month.
