The NFL community is grappling with devastating news as the NFL has lost one of its most beloved warriors.
Bryan Braman, a linebacker whose fearless approach and infectious energy made him a fan favorite, has passed away at just 38 years old.
His death comes after a courageous battle against a rare and aggressive form of cancer that he had been fighting for several months.
Braman’s seven-season NFL career with the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles showcased the type of relentless determination that defined his character both on and off the field.
“Former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman died Thursday after seeking treatment this year for a rare, aggressive form of cancer, according to his agent. He was 38. Braman had undergone multiple surgeries during treatment in Seattle, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help him with expenses. Braman had been diagnosed with cancer in February. Agent Sean Stellato confirmed Braman’s death Thursday, noting that Braman had two daughters, ages 11 and 8,” ESPN reported.
The cancer diagnosis came in February 2025, launching Braman into an intensive treatment regimen in Seattle.
He underwent multiple surgeries, showing early signs of progress that gave his family and supporters hope.
However, the aggressive disease eventually returned, surrounding his vital organs and overwhelming his immune system despite his valiant fight.
Throughout his battle, the football community rallied around Braman and his family.
A GoFundMe campaign raised over $88,000, with heartfelt contributions from former teammates including J.J. Watt and Emmanuel Acho.
After going undrafted in 2011, he carved out a special teams role with the Houston Texans, creating memorable moments including a helmet-less tackle that became legendary among fans.
His later tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles proved equally impactful, particularly during their Super Bowl LII championship run where he blocked a crucial punt in the divisional round and recorded a special teams tackle in the title game.
