P.J. Washington has made the most of his time with the Dallas Mavericks, but will he stay with that team for the rest of his career?
Just like with all NBA players, there is a chance that he could move onto another squad in the near future.
However, where would he go?
Writing on X, Jake Weinbach said that Washington would be “an ideal fit on the Lakers.”
“It’s unclear if the 26-year-old forward is available in Dallas, but the Lakers are in the market for a 3&D wing, there’s existing chemistry with Luka Dončić, and we all know about the strong relationship between the two GMs,” Weinbach wrote.
I’m not sure about the extent of this possibility, but P.J. Washington would be an ideal fit on the Lakers.

Weinbach reminded readers that Washington is currently on a $14.1 million expiring contract and will be eligible for an extension next month.
If he and the Mavericks can’t reach a deal and he becomes a free agent in 2026, the Lakers could try to swoop in and grab him.
The Lakers are obviously thinking about Luka Doncic.
There was a time when LeBron James was seen as the future of the team, but it’s now Doncic that the front office is focused on.
Doncic and Washington crafted a strong relationship together when they both played for the Mavericks, which would only make a move like this even more enticing.
LA would get a strong 3-and-D star, and they would also receive someone who would keep Doncic happy.
This could be a win-win for the Lakers if they are able to put together an affordable deal.
It’s important to remember that the Lakers will be weighing just about every potential free agent in the upcoming months, because they are eager to build a robust and reliable team for Doncic to play with.
Washington would be just one of many candidates viewed and considered by LA.
