Caleb Williams Reveals His Goals For This Season

Caleb Williams has built his career on setting ambitious targets and achieving them.

From becoming a top recruit out of Washington D.C. to winning the Heisman Trophy in 2022 and being selected first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, the young quarterback has consistently delivered when the stakes were highest.

Now entering his second season with the Chicago Bears, Williams maintains that same driven mentality.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, the 24-year-old quarterback outlined two specific goals he aims to achieve in the upcoming season.

“Obviously, I have self goals,” Williams said, per Ari Meirov. “And that’s being first 4,000-yard passer in Bears history. That’s a goal of mine. 70% completion – that helps the team, keeps us on the field, puts us in better positions. And other than that, just trying to go down and score the most points that we can with these drives that we have. That’s kind of my self goal. And obviously, other than that, you got to go win. That’s success for me, that’s success for the team. That’s all that we wish for, and all that I wish for.”

Williams threw for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions while starting all 17 games as a rookie in 2024.

Despite showing flashes of his potential, the Bears managed just five wins and suffered through a brutal 10-game losing streak that ultimately cost the coaching staff their jobs.

The franchise views Williams’ development as their primary focus moving forward.

His ambitious mindset appears well-suited for new head coach Ben Johnson, who was hired largely because of his reputation for connecting with young quarterbacks.

Chicago made significant investments along the offensive line this offseason after allowing an NFL-high 68 sacks last season, a mark tied for the third-most in league history.

While some of that pressure resulted from Williams holding the ball too long, the rookie often looked uncomfortable operating within former coordinator Shane Waldron’s system.

The Bears are counting on Johnson’s offensive philosophy to unlock Williams’ full potential and transform him into one of the league’s elite QBs.
