The Los Angeles Lakers have had a busy week, but they may not be slowing down yet.
According to Brett Siegel, per Legion Hoops, the team has been “engaged in trade discussions” for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Donte DiVincenzo.
Are these the sort of players the Lakers need to become championship contenders again?

Of course, Lakers fans remember when Caldwell-Pope played for the Lakers, starting in 2017 until 2021.
During that time, he averaged 11.1 points and 3.2 rebounds and was a vital part of the team’s defensive plans.
Since then, he has moved onto the Denver Nuggets and most recently the Orlando Magic.
He wasn’t his usual self last season and averaged just 8.7 points and 2.2 rebounds for the Magic, and they are perhaps ready to move on from him.
As for DiVincenzo, he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2024-25 season, averaging 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
Before that, he played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, and New York Knicks.
Wherever he has played, DiVincenzo has been a helpful part of the roster, putting up strong effort on both ends of the court.
At this point, the Lakers are attempting to get a lot deeper.
They have a fearsome starting five, especially with LeBron James and Luka Doncic leading the way, but they want more.
They would like a second unit that is just as strong as their starters, and both of these players could help with that.
It’s not clear just how serious these trade talks are.
Will this develop into anything, or are the Lakers simply weighing all their options?
Fans should hear more soon.
