Zac Taylor’s tenure as head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals got off to a disastrous start.
Then, with Joe Burrow at quarterback, the team made it to the Super Bowl and looked poised for perennial contention.
Unfortunately, injuries and slow starts to seasons have gotten in the way too often.
That’s why FOX Sports host Nick Wright believes this will be the end of the line for Taylor.
“I think this is Zac Taylor’s last year as their coach because I think that there’s no reason to believe at all [that] this year’s going to be different than last year. If they miss the playoffs again, he’s gone. The defense is going to be bad again, and the offense will be good, and they’re going to be mediocre,” Wright said on “First Things First.”

The Bengals haven’t been prepared to start the season every year under Taylor.
Clearly, something hasn’t worked in his offseason planning, and those slow starts have put the team in a tough spot down the stretch.
Last season, they surprisingly lost their season opener to the New England Patriots, a game they were not only expected to win but also to dominate.
Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he’s coming off some of the most impressive numbers in league history.
Ja’Marr Chase also did his part by leading the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches.
Unfortunately, that was overshadowed by questionable coaching decisions, an apparent lack of preparation, and a subpar defense.
The team is too talented to go through this, and all fingers will eventually point to the head coach.
