Lions Provide Injury Update On 2 Key Players

The Detroit Lions had a magical 2024 season, going 15-2, winning the NFC North, and securing the first-round bye in the postseason before crashing and burning in the Divisional Round against the Washington Commanders.

The Lions took the loss on the chin and didn’t make any excuses, but by the end of the season, Detroit had a beaten and battered roster with injuries all over the place, particularly on defense, as a number of starters missed a large portion of the season.

All of those injuries started replaying in fans’ heads when cornerback Terrion Arnold and linebacker Derrick Barnes left practice with injuries on Thursday, but Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported that Barnes should be fine, while the team will be cautious with Arnold, though his injury also isn’t believed to be too serious.

Arnold had a strong rookie year in 2024 after the Lions drafted him 24th overall out of Alabama, contributing 60 tackles and ten pass deflections.

He had reportedly been having a great start to camp and impressed the coaching staff with his improvement, so hopefully, he can get back on the field quickly and pick up where he left off.

Calf strains are not something to get cute with, as many NBA fans have seen recently with the uptick in Achilles tears, so the Lions are taking the right approach by giving him as long as he needs to rest up.

Barnes missed most of last season with a knee injury, playing in just three games after being a consistent focal point of the defense over his first three years in the league.

Lions fans should breathe a sigh of relief, because both Arnold and Barnes should be just fine and back on the field in no time.
