August’s UFC 319 fight card in Chicago finally has a co-main event, and it will feature two hyped contenders on the featherweight ladder.

A bout between UFC newcomer Aaron Pico and the undefeated Lerone Murphy is set to serve as the co-main event for August’s spotlight event, the promotion announced Saturday during UFC Abu Dhabi.

Headlining UFC 319 will be a title fight between middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis and meteoric riser Khamzat Chimaev.

Before joining UFC, Pico was 12-4 in Bellator from 2017 to 2023. His last fight came in Feb. 2024 against Henry Corrales in a PFL vs. Bellator fight card.

Pico, 28, was set to make his UFC debut in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, but his scheduled opponent, Movsar Evloev (19-0), the No. 1 contender on the featherweight ladder, pulled out ahead of the fight.

Instead, Pico will get to square off against the sixth-ranked and 16-0-1 Murphy, who is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Josh Emmett at the UFC Apex in April.

Since joining UFC in 2019, the Manchester, England, native has taken down featherweight contenders like Emmett, Dan Ige and Edson Barboza. Six of his eight wins have gone to decision, with his last finish coming in 2021 against Makwan Amirkhani.
