Omarion Hampton Given Encouraging Outlook In 2025

Unsurprisingly, the Los Angeles Chargers were a run-heavy team in the first year under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

That will most likely be the case for as long as he and coordinator Greg Roman are there.

With that in mind, Jon Macri of PFF Fantasy & Betting believes that rookie running back Omarion Hampton will be in for a big role right out of the gate.

“Signs point to a RB capable of at least finishing inside the top 12, and top five is in his range of outcomes,” Macri said.

Hampton was the second running back taken in the 2025 NFL Draft, which had one of the most stacked classes in years.

He would’ve been the first running back off the board if it wasn’t for Ashton Jeanty, and that speaks volumes about how dominant Hampton was in college.

With the Chargers, Hampton will play behind a strong offensive line that excels at blocking in the interior and creating gaps in the running game.

That will also open up things for quarterback Justin Herbert.

His numbers weren’t impressive in his first year under Harbaugh and Roman, but if the running game helps the team get over the postseason slump, he won’t complain.

Hampton is a special player who’s used to a massive workload, and while he might be in a committee with veteran Najee Harris at first, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him become the primary ball carrier at some point during the season.

The Chargers are a contender to win the AFC West, and Hampton will have a lot to do with that success.
