Kelly was limited to just 13 games last year as he dealt with a shoulder injury that kept him out from April to August.

But despite his resurgence, the Diamondbacks have faltered, sitting fourth in the NL West at 51-58 after entering the season with hopes of playoff contention.

And with Kelly set to hit unrestricted free agency after the season, Arizona made the choice to cash in for futures.

Kelly starred for Arizona during its run to the 2023 World Series, where Arizona lost ot the Rangers, going 3-1 over four starts with a 2.25 ERA across 24 innings.
